GOOCHLAND, Va. – Taylor Keeney, a first time candidate and proven community leader, is seeking the Republican nomination in Virginia’s current 7th Congressional District. Keeney issued the following statement after the two special masters, appointed by the Virginia Supreme Court, released draft maps of Virginia’s congressional districts.
“While we will wait to make a decision until we have final maps from the Virginia Supreme Court, the congressional redistricting map released yesterday draws Goochland into the First District. Goochland is home, and that’s where Carter and I are raising our kids,” said Taylor Keeney.
“Unfortunately, the draft maps put Goochland into incumbent Republican Congressman Rob Wittman’s district, along with Democrat Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. I have no intention of running against Congressman Wittman should he and I stay in the same district. The stakes are too high to create uncertainty. We need to elect a Republican majority to the U.S. House of Representatives to stop President Biden’s radical agenda from bankrupting our country and hurting our families. The congressman is a strong conservative voice for Virginians and I’m excited our military will continue to have their tireless advocate and senior member on the House Armed Services Committee. I have told Congressman Wittman I will help him with anything he needs for his re-election,” Keeney added.
“I look forward to final maps – voters deserve certainty and I appreciate the outpouring of support our campaign and my family has received from voters across the region. It is inspiring and humbling, thank you,” concluded Keeney.
